Hi, everyone. Unfortunately, I have to shut down Jewel Case Journal. When I started this, I envisioned it as a something that would become a labor of love and way to fundraise for a charity I believe in, supporting music education. Sadly, I’ve fallen short of the mark.
While I love music and I love writing, the behind-the-scenes aspects of putting together this newsletter have become more daunting and time-consuming than I expected. I haven’t generated many subscribers, either, and JCJ is actually losing money. It’s not a financial hardship or anything like that, but one of the purposes was to raise money for Music Will, and I can do that more effectively by just donating the money it costs to produce this newsletter directly to them instead. Additionally, I’ve become frustrated that all of the issues of JCJ have been going to spam and promotions folders. In other words, I’m paying money and giving a lot of my time to something that hardly anyone ever sees, even if they subscribed.
I’m sorry I didn’t deliver on the initial promises of the newsletter and that we didn’t have a longer ride. I’m grateful to everyone who subscribed and supported JCJ. Thank you.
